I had read somewhere that, when you use the word ‘you’ repeatedly in a sentence, it’s a sure way to get someone’s attention. ‘You’ and that person’s name are two of the most sweetest words in the world, anyone would want to hear from you.
A few weeks back, while I was was heading to office, a young man interrupted me. He asked me, ‘Can you spare 3 minutes on human rights?’. I said ‘no’, because I didn’t want to miss my cab and was not interested in any of those campaigns or the NEXT BIG revolution to ‘change’ human lives. Then he said
It’s about YOUR human rights ( stressing the word YOUR )
I stopped my walk, and looked at him. He now had my full attention. This guy knew the basics of human communication. I stood there for two seconds and resumed my walk, thinking about the lesson this young chap taught me, on that uneventful day
