When I told Melvin that I was planning to take lyric writing seriously, he told me something that completely changed my outlook on lyric writing. He told me that, when you write lyrics that has meaning and depth, you might be inadvertently helping someone come out of depression, giving them hope and life for the future. You might never see these people, but consider it as a God’s grace to be able to do something as beautiful as this.
