Recording guitar at home

As part of setting up a recording studio at home, these are the thoughts running through my head

My requirement

  1. Ability to record my electric guitar the output from my amp into the computer
  2. Ability to record my electric bass guitar the output from my amp into the computer
  3. Ability to hear what is being recorded ( without delay ) using my Sen headphones ( HD 380) or a set of monitor speakers
  4. Options to connect a microphone

 

Possible options

  1. Mic the amp using a Shure sm57 micrphone and connect the XLR input to the PC
  2. Take the output from amp and connect to the line in of the sound card
  3. Portable recorded like, zoom h4n
  4. XLR out from the amp or input from the guitar to one of the following interfaces and the connect the usb out to the computer
    1. Focusrite 2i4
    2. M-Audio M-Track 2-Channel Portable USB Audio and MIDI Interface
    3. Line 6 POD Studio GX USB Recording Interface
  5. Connect any XLR microphone to a X2u (Shure XLR-to-USB Signal Adapter )
  6. A usb microphone, like the Q1u or Q2u from Samson tech
