When I had to first come to Bangalore, dad said that he will travel with me. We stayed in dad’s Visting Office’s flat in Magadi road. We went to several PG ( Paying guest, single room staying location for bachelors). Finally based on dad’s close friend’s suggestion, we came across this beautiful place in Markham road, which was very close to where I was studying- NIIT, Brigade road
My dad coming along with me and getting me the right room was very instrumental in me forming a great picture about Bangalore. The place where I stayed was comfortable, close to where I studied and also access to good food.
After I completed my studies and got placed in ACS ( now Xerox), and it was time for me to leave Trivandrum forever, I knew from then on, I will just be a visitor to that great city, where I was born. It was time to completely shift from Trivandrum to Bangalore. The train was from the Kochuveli station. He drove me to the station. When the train blew the horn, and the train was about to move, I could see tears in his eyes. And it was too much for me. I cannot ever forget that scene.
I still remember he always wanted me to opt to continue my further studies in Cochin and get a job in Kerala, so that I could see them often. But I decided to choose Bangalore and further my carrer in the metropolitan city. I knew it was just his love for me that he wanted me to try in Cochin. But I knew another world was waiting for me in Bangalore.
Even now, when I return from my stay, in Trichur, sometimes that eye still fills up. I know I may never understand my dad fully, but these are some small glimpses into his heart.
