Midnight coding

I was woken up from my sleep and I looked at the time. It was around 1:00 AM! I was not quiet happy with being woken up in the middle of the night. But I could find lot of excitement and sense of achievement on my brother’s face. He told me, “look at the computer screen!” . I looked at our Pentium III computer. “Justin, what you are seeing is assembly programming. Using assembly programming we can access the registers of the processors directly. Think what we can do with that!“. I was not at all interested in what he was saying but that did not stop him from sharing the excitement of controlling hardware directly through software, with no layers in between.

Looking back, I know my keen interest in programming and understanding of computer has to do a lot with the excitement and thrill my brother inculcated in me. His first java game- bug crusher, explosion using Visual C++, the 3d kettle which rotates, red hat Linux installation and best of all, the day when he asked me I could install software by myself and me crashing the C drive, due to large number of installs into C drive. I also remember when I showed him how I could create website using Worldbook encyclopedia, he started explaining about HTML and how I can host my own website one day( this blog is currently hosted and the HTML knowledge helps me in CSS).

We also used to compete with each other on games such as Captain claw, Moto racer and Dave
