Whole world is pursuing happiness isn’t it? All we need and all that matters at the end of the day is happiness, content and peace of mind. Everyone has their own definition of happiness. For some it is money, for some, it’s name and fame, for some it is health and for others it is Love. But if you look closely all these “wants” lead to the same goal. All these people are looking for only one thing and that is “peace of mind”. But they don’t know that, it is what they are looking for.
What is life? Life is a series of moments. Some good, some bad. Some give us happiness and some sorrow. Some moments which make us jump with joy and some make us cry. Every person, no matter whether king or beggar, has his/her own problems. There are varieties of problems like financial problems, family problems, heart breaks, health issues etc. As we grow old, our problems keep adding up, or old problems get replaced with new problems. May be we sit and cry. May be we pray. May be we talk about it with friends or family. We get depressed and these things are always running in the back of our mind. You tend to see negativity everywhere.
But then. Hey!!! Someone just came and complemented you. You just overheard someone talking some nice things about you. A friend of you called and shared his/her problems and told you that he/ she could not trust anyone other than you and he/she felt light after discussing the problem with you. It’s raining beautifully outside, you are sitting by the window side, sipping some hot coffee and listening to your favorite music. A long lost friend of yours called and told you that he/ she missed you. Someone made you laugh. You cracked a joke and everyone thought it was hilarious. You suddenly realized you have such valuable friends who respect you, admire you and trust you. You and your friends laughed till your stomach hurt watching a comedy movie. You bought some nice dress and everyone seems to like it. You had a very long conversation with someone with whom you seem to share same interests. Your mom prepared your favorite dish just because you are coming home. What are these? These are happy moments. However small or big, they made you smile. They made you laugh. They made you forget all your problems. They made you forget that yesterday you were crying. They made you forget, tomorrow you may cry again.
The point is, miseries, problems and sorrow are unavoidable. Nothing is permanent. Neither sorrow nor happiness. Now our job is to live each moment like the way we want. Neither cling on to something which will leave you eventually, nor sit and cry for something which is clinging on to you. It is in our own hands, lies the state of your mind. I can either chose to be happy or pitiful;content or whiny;disturbed or peaceful. Mother earth has made peace with day and night, rain and sunshine and so have we. Universe has it’s own rules. Everything happens according to the rule. We have made our peace with the nature. Let us make peace with rules of the universe. That way, we can rule our own universe. That way we can rule the universe, within us, then the universe around us does not matter.
