Jolly Aunty and Anto uncle came home today, to see the baby. I was so happy to see both of them. Me and Jolly Aunty got to discuss several aspects of painting. Today’s main topic was abstract painting
Jolly Aunty told me that she is more into surrealism. She told me she had done 3 paintings which reflect this
1. A bird with stone wings: In this picture, we could see several hands which emerge, from fire, which is depicted on the bottom of the painting. And at the top of the painting, rises a girl, with the body of a bird, but with wings made of stone.
2. Boat on the ocean: This painting was coincidentally done. Whenever she had to remove the top layer from enamel paint, she used to dab it on a flat surface. In this case, it was a piece of plywood
The paint thus formed, came to be the shape of a boat sailing in the ocean. With different colors, it almost looked like it was floating on fire
3. Volcano: The lava which flows from the volcano, slowly turns into crystal clear water
I also asked her when she visited a painting exhibition for abstract, modern art, if she felt the artwork exhibited there, were being overrated. That is, people without putting much effort getting lot of accolades. She said no, she told me, it’s the idea that matters.
She said for wood, she applied a base coat of clear varnish, and nothing else. And that sunboard+ Acrylic is an amazing combination, because the colors would look so vibrant
She also told me that when she forgot to wash the brushes, she ended up having to throw them away
