Doctor database is avaialbe in India and is provided by several websites like https://dbshop.in/database/doctors and http://www.doctorsdirectoryindia.com/doctor

According to dbshop, these are the advantages of having access to such a database

  1. Hospitals can get benefited the most. They can appoint doctors depending on the departments and their requirement.
  2. NGO’s carrying out medical camps can use this database to understand the availability of doctors.
  3. Dealers of medical instruments and other equipments can use this database.
  4. Pathology laboratories can also get benefited.
  5. Pharmaceutical companies always use a contact base to reach out to doctors to market their upcoming drugs and medicines.
  6. Medical institutes and colleges can use this database in appointing faculty having good experience in this field

In addition, I also learned from a friend that, large pharma companies, including colgate want to pursue research and they would want to know which doctor specializes in the research the companies want to perform. By knowing this information, they could contact these doctors and ask them to help them in the research.

A typical database would look like this

And a detailed info page would look like this,

Source : http://www.doctorsdirectoryindia.com/doctors/9088/dr.-divya-sharma-ayurvedic—

(NOTE: All the details posted above are pubicly avaiable info, from the respective websites )

So based on this info, companies could pick up doctors and and seek their help with research

But how do you come up with a such a database ?

So realizing there is a market for people seeking doctor information, a company could create a database with this information. Consider you have a set of specializations and you need to find doctors based on that. How do you proceed ?

First and foremost, you would search in Google for the specializations. At least in the United States, most doctor profile information is publicly available including their credentials and full biodata. You might have to go through several profiles ( using Google search of course ) until you hit the right person. Once you get this information, you add it to an excel sheet.

There could be other teams, which would help in sorting, cleaning and adding this to a database. Eventually you would have a database which contains details of doctors mapped against research skillset

I was thinking about automating the whole process
