I saw this article today and was taken aback. BMRCL or rather Bangalore metro rail corporation land acquisition for building stations or tracks have always faced protests and troubles.
But more often than not, people are convinced that it is done for nation building and you must support it.
But here, the land is being sold to a third party. This simply doesn’t make any sense. Yes, BMRCL would argue, they are selling surplus land (4.5 acres, really?) But what if, they make it a practice and acquire more land that they require, for dirt cheap prices, with the help of government and sell them to others for much higher rates.
In the end people are deprived of their lively hood, displaced from their homes and cheated off the true value of their money
