It was just a few months back, that I visited my mom’s sister, Jolly aunty’s house and saw these beautiful paintings ( posted above), gathering dust and being attacked by termites and moths. It pained by heart so see such great works of art being neglected by everyone. My friend told me that, when I have my own home, I should buy from Jolly aunty and hang those painting in my home. I agreed to that. After meeting with her, I joined a sketching class, to learn more about drawing and sketching, which I felt would encourage Jolly aunty to connect more with her artistic side. Moreover, the classes helped get a better understanding of sketching, which I had been pursuing for sometime.
But I got a BIG surprise, when she started posting pics of these paintings on facebook and also left this comment on my timeline ( see below )
Then I remembered these words from the movie Coach carter
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
