More lessons in driving at Trichur

By | April 11, 2016

I started from Bangalore on last friday ( ugadi holiday ) in kallada travels, from Madiwala ( Multi axel volvo sleeper ) and reached Trichur at 5:30 AM on Saturday. It was a pleasant journey. I was welcomes by really heavy rains, but luckily I got an auto once I started walking backwards for a little distance, because the bus stopped a little far ahead, because of the road being widened

Saturday evening Shiju had come with his bike, and I rode it for 3 -4 rounds, in the road, in front of our house. After that, he told me, we could take it to the road and guess what ? We went all the way till vazhani dam. I suddenly realized the hidden potential within me. On my way, back the journey was getting a bit difficult, but I enforced myself with positive thoughts ( 🙂 ) and reached almost till pallimoola and asked Shiju to ride after that. It was an amazing experience, because it was the first time, I was riding a bike ( motorbike with gear ), for such a long distance, especially in hilly areas.

Yesterday, I took dad, in the car to church, waited for sometime, until his meeting was over and then came back to our home. It was the first time, I was taking someone out for some kind of utility, other than just going out to drive car, for learning it. I felt so happy doing it. I told Ambika also about it and she too felt very proud about it.

Today, me and dad went to the electricity office, where there was a tricky reverse turn, then to the bank and finally to the 916 super market. I believe I did some decent driving.

In the evening, I practiced going in slow speeds in 1,2 and 3rd gear and also ventured into some tough, hard to navigate streets in Gandhinagar – I had almost got lost, but thanks to Google maps ( which eventhough misguided me at some point of time ) I was able to come out of the maze and back home – thank’s to God’s grace

Car driving lessons from dad ( during my first trial ), Balaji driving school and Shiju, bike riding with Jose pepan and Sri harish and Shiju and practice and God’s grace, I am beginning to feel hopeful that I might get really good at driving and riding.

Out of all these, the most memorable driving experience, till now, is also the shortest – when I took mom in the car, to the end our street, sat for sometime, enjoyed the evening and then came back. I don’t think, I will ever forget that.

After all, I am just a kid, standing near the pond, tossing the stone and hoping for the best. Let’s see how far the stone skims the water
