I do not claim to possess all the answers. But I believe, I could always ask a few questions. But doesn’t the journey always begin with seeking, by asking the right questions ?
What is love, according to science?
Science tells us that love is nothing but chemical balance / imbalance in the brain, caused by the pre determined timing of firing of neuro transmitters. I am sure, you are aware of the fact that there are medicines available in the market, that can change your state of mind, in a short period of time.
An angry violent depressed person could be soothed by administering right amount of prozac into his body. For animals, it’s based on changes in the hormone levels, coupled with the seasons ( many birds choose spring season for mating ) or the environment that they live in.
Why do people fall in love ?
People fall in love for various reasons, it could be emotional reasons, psychological reasons or it could be even for monetary benefits. They might look for financial security or it could be even due to societal or peer pressure or even something that they saw in the movies. But is there anything more than that ?
What if you could take out all the characteristics from the person you love and would you still love him/ her ? If you fell in love with your partner because of her beauty, will you still love her when she gets old and her face has innumerable wrinkles and marks ? If you fell for him, because of his knowledge and salary, would you still love him, when he falls prey to Alzheimer disease or looses all his savings due to a bad financial decision ?
Loving without reasons, without expectations …..
How do couple continue to love each other, even after several years being together, knowing fully that the person they met the first time, does not exist at all ? I mean, the person would have changed psychically, psychologically and emotionally. What would have remained common during all these time ? When two people fall in love, what doe they actually fall in love with ? What are they looking for ? What makes them feel, they are in love with the same person, even when so many things would have changed about both the parties involved.
The question is, how can you continue to look at the eyes of your love and get all the love in the world, even after dozens of years being together ?
I have never fully understood love or the reason why people fall in love ? But I am sure, the answers are on the way.
