Family get together at athirapally

My mom and sisters

I saw discussion about a family get together in our ‘Thekekkara’ group, a few weeks back. At that time, I did not take it very seriously. Moreover, since most people opted for a trip in the month of January, I was sure that there was absolutely no way, I could make it for the event, because I had planned for my leaves and my vacation around the last week of December.

Around two weeks back, I got a call from Joe kuttan, asking me when I would be coming to Trichur. I told him about my travel plan, knowing fully that I won’t be able to make up for the event, since it was scheduled for January.

In a strange turn of events, the event was rescheduled to December and that too, exactly the day after I reach Trichur. Even then, I was not pretty sure about how it will all turn out because there was still confusion going on about the venue and the number of people who would turn up for the event. When I got call from Joe, two days back, confirming my presence, I came to realise that, the plan will materialise and I will get a chance to see all my dear cousins and their kids after a long time. I was very thrilled by the whole prospect of it. The day before the event, I asked mom, if she too would be interested to join me. She readily agreed and I was so happy to go along with them to this family party. You can read about the travel log in my travel blog.

With the help of Roselyn chechi, I learned about two new games, namely Jenga game ( arranging wooden blocks ) and UNO card games. I had so much fun playing these games, with the kids. In the evening, me Anoop and Paul headed out to the center of the river and took bath there. We had so much fun there, playing games and talking about the lone house at the top of the mountain. Although I got a bit freaked out when dad announced that we are packing that evening, I was somehow able to convince mom to stay back and go the next day.

All in all, it was a great tour to remember and best part was getting a chance to interact with my cousins and their kids, especially with Paul, with whom I got a chance to discuss a lot about music. Paul and Anoop took some nice photographs, which are in my camera, which after post processing, I will upload to facebook and flickr. When we were about to part, I got a glimpse of the crane which I had been searching for and took several pictures of it.

Overall, the trip was soothing and thrilling at the same time and helped me connect with myself and people around me in a better way.
