Installation

  1. Installed java
  2. Downloaded and installed Android studio ( around 1.1 GB) Took about 5 minutes. There was additional download and configuration, and that took about 4 minutes

Creating my first hello world program

When you first open the IDE, you might see nothing. Don’t freak out. At the bottom of the screen, you can see a small progress bar, loading. Once this is completed, you will be able to see all the files
Created a new project

Selecting the right emulator and run the code

NOTE: If you by any chance get the error
Unable to resolve target ‘Google Inc.:Google APIs:16’

Don’t fret. Just chill. Go to Tools > Android > SDK Manager. At the bottom of the window that opens up, you will find, ‘Launch StandAlone SDK Manager’. From here you can install all the missing libraries.
