What am I doing ?

Based on what is posted on Facebook by my friends, I assume that the only interesting things that are happening in their lives are the following:

  1. Get married, upload marriage photos
  2. Visit places with spouse and post photos of the same
  3. Have kids, and post photos of kids
  4. Post more photos of kids

I mean, considering that most of my friends are between 25 and 35, probably the best time in their lives, it’s strange to find that they have nothing else to share with the world. I mean they have nothing to talk about new found knowledge, new travel experience to exotic places, creative writing or hobbies. Even offline, while talking to them, face to face, I hear about marital problems, movies they watched and problems at office. Frankly, I find these conversation extremely boring to the core and not adding any values to both the parties involved in the conversation. I have reached a point where, I prefer going for lunch and breaks alone, because I find silence more interesting than the regular ( read as trash) talk of my friends.

Now here is the thing, a great solace for me is, books and Internet. There are times when I feel, humans are just like animals, I begin to believe that the only reason we have come here ( on planet earth) is to be born, grow up and then procreate and then the cycle continues. But through the world of books and Internet I now have a new perspective about life and also about mankind. I find interesting people, their thoughts make me think and re think. I learn about skills from the masters ( like guitar, drawing for example), that I could only dream of, a few years back. Most of the things I am doing now ( including guitar) I had given up in my childhood, due to lack of opportunities. But now, not even a single day passes without me having some kind of contact with music.

At the same time, I keep wondering why I am not like others ? But you know what, while my friends work hard( read as , being crazy workaholics), party( read as being addicted to alcohol, girls and easy s#x) and take selfies with their spouse, I am giving my 100 % in doing things I love the most, dedicating my entire life to reading, drawing, painting, singing, dancing, earning new degrees ( MBA),fitness, listening to music, writing and composing music and ofcourse programming and cooking too.

I believe even if I have to choose a life when I have to starting living a ‘normal’ life that my friends are ‘enjoying’ now, I would still be content that I had a few years in my life where I was at my creative best and would have all those memories from now, that I can cherish forever.
