Connecting with my family through photography

Recent photographs

I usually don’t do this, but this time, I wanted to. When dad picked up the phone, I asked him if he could spare some time to check some recent photographs that I had taken, for which I got some really nice compliments from my friends. He immediately told me that his knowledge in photography is limited(which he always tells me). I then gave him the example of my nephews( Appu and steve) who very much interested in my photographs, when I showed it to them ( at Louis chettan’s house)

I even called up mom and told her to show photos to dad in the laptop, instead of in the phone and she readily agreed. I usually don’t go to this length to show my photographs to anyone. I do not tag people or even put my name on the photographs. But this time, I felt I had to do it.

The results were very interesting. Until I compelled, mom also had not seen this photographs, in a bigger screen and that totally changed her perspective about the photos. Dad too liked the photos very much and kept praising about the details and my skills. I was so happy to hear that from them. I felt they were proud about my photography skills.

Now here is the thing I learned. It’s good to downplay yourself and be humble and all that. But sometimes, it’s okay to let people know who you are and what you are really capable of. I may not ask my dad to check my photos on a regular basis( the last time, I requested was over 5 – 6 months back) because I am sure he may not have the interest to check every other photograph that I click, but I will definitely make sure he knows what I am doing and I am sure, as parents, they will be very happy and this could be one easy thing for me to make them happy
