Power of believing – Fire test

I have discovered a new test that anyone can use. Its called the FIRE TEST. Procedure is as follows

Apparatus

1. Gas stove
2. Hand ( either left or right )

Procedure

1. Light the gas stove and adjust it to full flame
2. Now slowly place either of your hands right above the flame
3. Wait for 5 seconds
4. Under most circumstances your hand would be burnt terribly without recognition

Conclusion

1. Fire can burn

What does this experiment teach you ?

1. You don’t have to have faith in the fire for your hand to get burned
2. Even if you strongly believe that you won’t get burned, you will STILL be burned
3. This experiment can be conducted on believers, non-believers, atheists, scientists, kids, pregnant ladies and always the results will be the same
4. Your past Karma or your future fate has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the results. Even if you have committed more crimes than Hitler or better deeds than Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and Lincoln combined, you will still burn your hand

So why did I say all these ?
I have been on Homeopathic medicine since some time. One of my friends has insisted that the whole thing is just fake and it works on the fact that the diseases are cured by just believing in the treatment. He told me that homeopathy has no scientific basis and the doctor just gives you sugar coated pills which has no medicinal properties. He also warned me to not to read anything against homepathy so that I don’t loose faith in the treatment and not get the healing.

Thanks to him, I have started reading more about the ‘fake’ness of this form of treatment. A topic of interest which first started out as a silly curiosity slowly rose into something which I now take very seriously. I started Googling about the placebo effect, the properties of water, “centesimal” or “C scale” dilution and water memory and also read various books on this subject including the last one being Bad Science by Ben Goldacre, which has entire chapter dedicated to homeopathy. So taking the example of the ‘fire’ experiment, this is what I have understood. If the healing actually does take place irrespective of the belief of the patient and if this healing can be repeated across age group and gender, then that means there is healing properties present in the medication of homeopathy and they are not just ANOTHER SUGAR COATED PILL. And that’s exactly what happened. In a span of less than 3 months, I could see drastic changes and now I am almost fully recovered from my illness, although being constantly aware that, all this could be totally made-up and fake.
